Every Day in June - Art

Another online art group I have joined is 'Every Day in June'   I only started on the 19th June as I hadn't heard about it before then...but looking forward to continuing and also taking part in July.

My aim is to do all of these in a short amount of time, not spending too long over them.

The prompt for this one was 'Fashion' so I drew Stevie (one of my Sasha dolls), in her favourite outfit.

A little bit of fun for 'Nursery Rhyme'

Animal

Very simple for today.

My first attempt at watercolour was inspired by the prompt 'Rain'.

This one stumped me as we don't really use the terminology 'In the Can' here, we tend to use the word tin instead of can, and in terms of rubbish, the word bin instead of can.  In the process of trying to decide what to draw my eye was drawn to my 'tin' money box that I use to collect funds for Alzheimers Research - donating £1 of every item I make and sell.

Percy is sweet so attempted to draw him from a photography I took last year.

# 26 was Night Lights, so I thought I would try drawing some candles and a brass candle holder I have....  Hmmm....definitely need to work on this technique!

#27 Something I collect - well where was I going to start?  I decided to use my GA Henty book collection for this.  I took a photo, used an editing programme to turn it into a 'pencil sketch', printed it out and then painted it.

I've had some fun experimenting with water colours.

A Kiwi a Day

I have recently joined a couple of online art groups.

One of which is to quickly sketch 'A Kiwi a Day'

Most of my 'Kiwi a Day' sketches will be following the adventures of Claude the Balancing Kiwi...

So far the story goes....

And one that doesn't quite fit the series, but was still one of my 'A Kiwi a Day' sketches.

Garden of the Rose

My husband and I had a lovely wander round the Gardens of the Rose in St Albans today - one of our favourite places during the open season.

So many more roses out in bloom than there were a couple of weeks ago.

I was delighted to capture this little wren

and its partner.

All the flowers were spectacular

The roses glorious

The butterflies were out enjoying the nectar...

This one was warming its wings.

We love that we can take Percy with us as well.

I never tire of the roses - their scent and variety of the colours is just superb...and yes today we did come home with one - will have to take a photo of it tomorrow.

The Regent's Park, London

I had to go into London today to see the surgeon who operated on me six years ago...the operation which has left me with constant pain!   Anyway, we thought we would make an afternoon of it and visit Regents Park before the appointment.  We sat and ate our lunch admiring the wonderful flowers. The park was a delight of colour, the afternoon was very warm, dare I say it?  Hot even!  There is rather a photo overload as I was using my husband's camera - I realised I hadn't used it in ages, and I need to get used to it, so I can take it to Fort Worth, Texas with me next month as it is so much lighter than my camera.  I am pretty pleased with how the photos came out.

We sat in the Avenue Gardens while we ate our lunch.

Love this, what fun!

We walked through Queen Mary's Gardens and admired all the roses.  It smelt divine!

Loved the shiny surface of this bug - some kind of ladybird?

We walked over the bridge and around the lake.

Stopped and watched the Coot and her chicks for a while

Funny looking things they were.

She feeds them.

Okay so I definitely got carried away photographing them!

So soft looking.

The gardens near the Boathouse Cafe were also bright with colour.

It was a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon...if only we had known we would have to wait over an hour to be seen, we could have spent longer in the park!
