Five on Friday

Well I guess I was a little optimistic yesterday having had such a good day...the pressure dropped dramatically late last night and the head pain hit with a vengeance! Which was of course followed by more pain - or perhaps I caused the flare up by doing more yesterday as I felt so good...sigh...as a result I haven't felt up to doing much today as I woke not only with the headache but more pain than usual,  AND nausea....I thought that particular issue had stopped - seems not.

I did manage to take five photos though..so here is 'Five on Friday'

I just love the colours of these flowers - it is good to remind myself of the beauty that surrounds me.

Thankful Thursday

I have been meaning to do one of these posts for ages...several blogs I have followed over the years have had a 'Thankful Thursday' and it is always good to remember to be thankful for things - sometimes we get bogged down with the everyday and forget.

I am thankful for a blue sky today - I was able to get my washing dry!

I am thankful for the wonders of nature

Our gorgeous Maple Tree is starting to unfurl its leaves.

I am thankful for:

Colour in the garden

Cherry blossoms on the tree

Wild geraniums

Even dandelions can bring a smile to the face if you think of their lovely sun shine colour.  The guinea pigs like them as well!

Leaves on the rose bushes.

Bluebells in MY garden

Pear blossom

Flowers starting to bud in the wheelbarrow planter

Our camellia is full of lovely red blooms

Even a feather can bring a smile to the face.

I am thankful that I have had a headache free day today - it is amazing how much more I can achieve when I am feeling a little better than usual.

I have cleared and tided my sewing table, some fabrics, patterns and even did some sewing today!  Hopefully my mojo is returning.

Two on Tuesday

Oops forgot to post these!

I was delighted to see a Goldfinch visit the bird feeder in the garden.  I hope the message is spread so we get more!

Our resident Wood Pigeon.

100 Days in the Garden: 3

Today we popped out to another nursery fairly local to us that prices most of their plants very cheaply!  We got a nice selection of plants including two roses priced at £5.99 each!

Some herbs and salad greens

Some flowers

The flowers went into the wheelbarrow

Not sure if this is where it will stay, but it will do for now.  Once these start flowering, it should look great.  I also have enough plants left over for at least two of my hanging baskets.

Salad vegetables

Herbs just outside out back door.  I bought a nice selection of herbs that I will regularly use.

100 Days in the Garden: 2

I thought I would join in with the '100 Days Project' on Instagram that a friend on 'Flickr' linked to...I am not actually sure how to post photos to Instagram yet, or even how it works so they will probably mainly feature on my blog - sometimes there will be one photo, at other times there will be more.

My 100 Days Project is going to be '100 Days in the Garden'.  This will make sure I actually get out in it every day which will hopefully help me feel better, plus it will also enable me to make an improvement to the garden as it is looking rather scruffy of late!  Hey, maybe even some of the long term 'To Do' projects will finally get done!

Yesterday which was the official starting day - I did actually take a couple of photos yesterday in the garden which were posted as 'Two on Tuesday' , but the rest of the day was not good for me...

So today's offering:

On Wednesdays we usually venture out to a garden centre Cafe/Restaurant for lunch taking my Mother in Law with us to give her an outing as she has had a rough year health wise.  Today we tried a new one and ended up not just having lunch but coming home with some things for the garden.

We bought two rather bright and cheerful vegetable trugs - they aren't especially big, but they are a good height and as such I won't have to bend over so much.  One I will use for herbs and the other for salad vegetables.  These will be perfectly adequate for what I want to use them for - over the years I have not been especially successful with vegetable growing here in this garden so have decided to just focus on a few simple things instead.

The green trug - it certainly is bright and cheerful!

This one will be used for the herbs....or I might swap them round!

We also got this wooden wheelbarrow which I put together this afternoon.  I will fill this with flowers. The wheel actually goes round!

The pear tree is absolutely full of blossom.

Something to remind me of 'home' in New Zealand.  My Mum and Dad have a Fuchsia just like this that flowers outside their black door.  This was so pretty we couldn't resist.  I will re-pot it hopefully tomorrow.

So pretty.

It really was quite the perfect day to be out in the garden today - a lovely blue sky and quite mild in temperature which always helps to make one feel a bit brighter.

Blue Monday: Monday Blues?

The  Bluebells are out!  Not quite in full glory yet, but still worth a walk around Ashridge Estate to take in the sight and scent of them.

Of course other evidence of Spring is also around...

Lambs feeding.

Tractor left in the field?  Perhaps he had gone for a tea break?

More Bluebells...

In another week, they should be in full display and the blue should show up even more...we will hopefully go at the end of this week to see how they have changed.

Percy enjoyed his walk as well.

A few remaining Daffodils.

The different textures of bark and moss always interest me.

Of course we also had lunch at the Cafe.
