Terrific Thursday

What a beautiful morning for a walk, I wore my coat, but ended up taking off as certainly didn't need it on, nor my jumper/sweater.  Definitely t shirt weather today.

It was beautiful down on the beach I walked to today.  I just can't believe just how warm it was so early in the morning.

A spider on a dandelion.

Thank you for the ID help Graham, this is a Pisaura mirabilis, the Nursery Web spider.

I can't remember what these are called, but they took my eye.

Back home...

I sat outside for my morning cup of tea and was struck with how pretty the yellow looked against the blue sky.

It was too hot to do a lot of gardening today.  I did fill up another big round green bag full of weeds which have now gone into the newly emptied garden waste bin.

As I was walking round the garden I discovered another path,.. near the back fence line.

I will start to clear this over the next few days.

I also think there was a proper watering system at some stage, as I have found some hose pipes and joiners, but can't find where they actually 'start' or where they go to.  Another job to do in the future.

This needed clearing.

That is better.

I cleaned the pump filter and fountain and it now has more than one spray!

I also pulled out a bit more blanket weed, but don't want to do too much as the little tadpoles get caught up in it.

I sat here for quite a bit of the day sewing. (I could also watch the guinea pigs out on the grass)

Four little bloomers/pantaloons made and four dresses.

Dressed.

Shoes, features and hair next, in no particular order.

My husband packaged up my quilting mat and rulers, and also tucked inside the bag the original Aga pads I had ordered and also a packaged that arrived back in February for me.

I'd forgotten what the mats were like!  I should have guessed I would order butterflies.

I think though they are a tad on the small side which is a shame.  I assumed they would be a standard size.

It has been such a lovely day and I am so grateful for the amazing weather we are having.  It makes everything seem a little more brighter and positive.

  1. What a pleasant spot to sit and sew on a sunny day. And another path! It is like having a secret garden with things to discover all through it. What fun :)

    1. It is very much like having a secret garden to explore, although I could do without the nettles! Arms have rashes over them again tonight, and they are prickling and stinging rather a lot.

  2. That's an interesting looking spider, looks like you've been busy there.

    1. I have an insect book, but not a book on spiders! I'll have to correct that at some stage, as I love finding out what things are.

  3. What a beautiful day, weather wise you had. You certainly achieved a lot, it is making a big difference.

    1. So much still to do though, hard on my own!

  4. Now that's what I call a proper pond. I love the idea of a table umbrella shade. I was used to them in New Zealand but the idea would be laughable on windy Lewis. On the few still days we have in summer the midges would congregate under them in the millions. They would be useful though if we could use them because we have exceptionally high UV levels.

    1. I so love the pond, I have always wanted a 'proper' pond, and finally have one. The umbrella provides much needed shade, as we get none at the front of the house.

Oh yes those dreaded midges! Not good.

  5. You mentioned the spider and not having a spider book. I was convinced that I did have but, unless it was one of my New Zealand books, I'm losing the plot because I can't find it. I am pretty confident that this is not a spider I have seen before and it's not in the spider section of any of my ordinary insect books. I'' ask my brother although he's in the process of a massive re-organisation so if he does not know off the top of his head he might not have an immediate answer.

    1. Thank you Graham. My Dad in NZ has an excellent spider book which I use to identify them when over there.
