Thankful Thursday

Thankful for the vegetables growing in my garden.  My first tomato and onion with dinner tonight, as well as the regular beans, chard, courgette and potatoes.

Thankful for my ability to sew and the flowers in my garden.

The second little top (that went missing yesterday) made for 'Mary' using my friend's pattern.
This time the cap sleeve blouse.

Monday Monday

The dappled sunlight on the path through the woods looked so inviting to day as I walked down to the bay.

Sadly this was what greeted me.... seems those young beer drinking men of the other day didn't take their beer cans with them...they ought to be ashamed at themselves!  Unfortunately I didn't have a bag with me to pick it up and bring it home, otherwise I would, but with the virus and their obvious disregard to 'social distancing' I didn't want to risk catching something.  I will make sure I have a bag and gloves with me when I go down today and if it hasn't been washed away I will pick it up and bring it home to dispose of.

It was quite breezy down on the shore, but still beautiful and the breeze is a great way to blow out the fuzzy feeling from sitting around sewing.

I walked up past the old village church today.

Stunning flowers in the churchyard.

Love the bell at the top.

Views from the churchyard.

A peaceful place to visit.

I've been taking part in a little capsule wardrobe challenge for the Tiny Rag Dolls which is a bit of fun.  I love this outfit I made for this little one.

The idea is to make a mix n match wardrobe.  All the fabric tops are completely reversible.  So that is eight tops in four.

I have also made a little felt jacket for her.

Just little things to keep me busy.

The guinea pigs got cleaned out and I even managed to get some towels washed and dried.  Hanging them over an airer in the lounge in front of the patio doors dries things very efficiently with the sun streaming through which it did even though it was intermittent.

May has arrived!

Lots of ships still anchored out at sea this morning when I went for my walk.

The pond that has been so dry is now full again.

Blossoms on various plants along my way.

Beautiful wisteria

lilac

A front garden on my walk home along the road.

Walking seems such hard work at the moment!  Considering I have been walking pretty much most days since September and averaging over 20 miles a week, it shouldn't feel like hard work, but it does.  I guess that is another side effect of coming off the steroids.    I also fell today - my feet slipped out from underneath me and I came crashing down and landed on my left arm/elbow and back.  Ouch is an understatement!  My elbow is swollen and I have a bruise running down the length of my arm.  A reminder to get some Arnica!  Needless to say I didn't enjoy the rest of my walk because of the pain.

I spent the rest of the day quietly inside.  My neighbour came to pick up the two little dolls I had made for her and her grand-daughter. I put them in a little bag and put them on my patio table.   She was so pleased with my gift she came back with some fabric, buttons and a bunch of flowers and chocolates.  I don't like many chocolates, but do like the Lindor ones.  That was really lovely of her.   She left them on the table for me.

I immediately used some of the fabric to make my antique wooden doll, Peggy Sue, a dress.

I didn't do any gardening today as my arm hurt too much and the weather was pretty changeable, raining on and off.

I took a couple of photos of my front garden bank this morning when I came back from the walk, as it has really covered up nicely with lots of different flowers and plants.

To think parts of it were really bare only just over a month ago.

The front of the deck is looking colourful as well, although the grass needs mowing again.  Hopefully my arm will feel better in a couple of days to do so.

Have a good weekend!

Working Wednesday

Today I worked on finishing the TRDs I have been making.

This group three - all now dressed.  One is still missing shoes, as I can't quite decide whether to give her any or not.

This is group four.

These ones are a combination of group one and two.  (One missing that I gave to my neighbour)

A circle of tiny rag dolls.

The complete group, plus the cat I have made this month.

Some of these will eventually go in my Etsy shop, but I can't see that being for some time, as it will be when it is safe for me to go to the post office, and my NHS letter says that won't be for at least 12 weeks.

I have had this kit for years, so decided it was about time to make it up.

All the pieces are pre-cut.

Turned out rather a funny looking guinea pig!

This side is better.

The afternoon was drier than the morning, so once I had finished these, I went out for a nice walk.

The ploughed and sown fields are starting to look green.

A pretty overcast afternoon.  Relatively mild, even though it was quite windy.

The sea was quite rough.  Not sure what my camera lens is up to - with the sea being curved!

In this one the curve is in the opposite direction.  Very strange.

Big vehicle carrier out at sea, and just to the left of it is a big oil tanker at anchor.

A bit far away to tell exactly what this bird of prey is.

He was really doing battle with the wind!

As I arrived home some seagulls were doing a circuit.

I managed to capture a couple in flight.

It seems incredible that there is only one day left in April!

Slow Sewing Saturday

The last few days I have really been struggling to get up in the mornings, certainly haven't felt like going for a walk... can't quite put my finger on the reason why...just feel really lethargic...so am wondering perhaps it is an effect of coming off the steroids.  So as it was also a bit overcast yesterday and I didn't really feel like doing much I spent the day working on the newest batch of tiny rag dolls.

I started working on their faces.

All done, hair next.

All but one of these little dolls I made crocheted wigs for this time.

I made them shoes, plus the other batch that I hadn't yet made shoes for.

I knitted a purple dress.

Here are the two batches that are still works in progress.

I have five aprons made from the other day, but need to work on their clothing, which I hope to do this week.

After dinner I finally felt like going for a walk, so went out early evening.

The sun was setting so there was a pinkish glow in the sky, although my camera doesn't show it true.

You can see the pink reflection in one of the pools of water in the middle of the picture.

The ships have started to put on their lights.

So although a 'lazy' day in terms of physical activity, not an unproductive day.
