Sunday Walk

Sunday is the day I meet up with my son (the one with ASD) to go for a walk, but we haven't done so in a long time as the weather has conspired against us.  Fortunately this Sunday it was dry and warm enough to go out for a walk.

He showed me where he walks behind the zoo to see the lions and I actually got to see them better than when we went to the zoo a couple of years ago!

We walked along the beach front.  There was actually a blue sky!

It was nice to see a few families out actually enjoying the fresh air.  It is so important for our health, both physical and mental to get outside and breath in the fresh air, exercise to get the oxygen flowing around your body and help improve your immune system naturally.

There has been a lot of landslides this winter.

I am not sure if this one happened this year or previous years, but I think it has probably got worse.  This was a WWII pillbox.

Loved seeing this line of gulls along the railing.

This fellow was very cheeky and the bravest of all as he stayed right where he was when we walked past, whereas the others all flew away.

Looking out to sea.

So that was November!

We have been having some lovely sunrises.

A ladybird in the garden keeping me company while I cut up the vine branches.

Sunday was a beautiful day so I took the dogs to Brook Bay for a walk along the beach.

It was really lovely.

Amazing to see the difference in Percy  compared to when we took him here in July.

So much happier, healthier and fitter, it is wonderful to see.

It was surprisingly busy though, seems others had the same idea to get out and enjoy the good weather.

A lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

A New Month

A day for reflection and calm after my slightly 'angry' day yesterday.  I have decided to try and make myself go for a separate walk from the dogs each day this month despite the pain in my feet.  I have missed my walks, the fresh air and the way the sea breezes 'clear the cobwebs' and sooth the mind. Why without the dogs?  Well little Percy being blind and still getting over the year and half of chemo is still building up his stamina, and to be honest it is so muddy on the walks through the woods and along the coast now that it is really not at all suitable for him, as he can stumble too easily, so I still to the roads and grass for him.  I could take Stanley, but don't like to leave Percy on his own, so I take them on at least one, usually two  walks a day, whether permitting.

It was very grey down at the bay.  The sea was quite noisy, but I knew that anyway as can hear it up at the house.  Surprisingly it was actually fairly mild and with a sweater and a coat on I got a bit too hot.

You couldn't see the hills or cliffs!  The clouds were very low.

A ferry out at sea.

You can just see it in the distance.

A teasel.

Reedy grasses swaying in the breeze.

Thank you to all who left such kind and supportive comments on my post yesterday.  It is very much appreciated.

Last Monday in July

It was a wild and windy  yesterday, so I just did a short walk in the afternoon

The blackberries are starting to ripen.  I tried this one, and it was okay, but a little bit sour.

A black bug of some sort.

The tide was in and the waves were crashing against the shore.

Total walked: 2.3 miles

I made myself another face mask.  The only shop I am likely to go in is our local shop/post office, but I thought I'd make an extra mask so I have a couple of spare ones to put in the wash.  This has a space between layers to add a filter insert.

Otherwise it has been a fairly quite day.  No gardening as just a bit too miserable for me to venture out.  Not really raining, just dull and windy with dampness in the air.

4 mm of rain (3.5 of which was overnight)

Wednesday Walk

A mostly enjoyable walk yesterday, marred slightly by a group of not especially pleasant people who thought it would be fun to throw rocks in my direction as I walked past at a large distance.  You have to wonder what goes on in the minds of people like this....obviously not a lot if they think they are being funny at such childish behaviour.  (They weren't teenagers!)  May they get their comeuppance!

The sea was still and calm

Not a breath of wind in the air

The light reflecting on the water

Blossom on a conifer type bush.  I've never seen this sort of blossom before.

The highlight nature find today was seeing a Marbled White (Melanargia galathea) butterfly fluttering around.  Boy was it hard to capture on film!

Green teasels.

Cows resting

In the garden:

I mowed the oval and orchard today and did some more weeding, trimming and prunning.  The green waste bin is SOOOO heavy!  I climb into it after every load I put in and trample it down in order to fit in as much as possible.

I had to pick another load of gooseberries and also some raspberries, so another jam making session tomorrow morning.
