Darlands Lake Nature Reserve

I woke to a beautiful morning.  Actually when I woke up it was still dark, but by the time I had breakfast and took the dogs for their walk it was lovely.  It looked like it would be a wonderful day for our walk.  I packed my waterproof leggings and raincoat though just in case, as the forecast was for rain by lunch time, and sure enough by late morning it had started to rain.  However, dressed right, it wasn't a problem and was a really lovely walk indeed if somewhat muddy in places!

We stopped at Finchley Nurseries for morning tea, and these two proud roosters were standing in the front garden!

Gorgeous Dahlias despite the bad weather we have had for the last month.

A very tasty morning tea - although admittedly the scone was actually a bit sweet which was disappointing.  Why put sugar in a scone?  I thought it would be a nice treat as I have been so good at avoiding all these kind of things, but I actually regret eating it.  Still I will know next time!

Lovely flowers in the gardens at the nursery.

Parakeets in the trees.

We walked on through lovely wooded areas. I had to put my camera away for a while as it really poured down, so didn't really get many more photos after this point.

Finishing up at The Orange Tree in Totteridge where we stopped for a lovely lunch.

I just had a starter course of Broccoli, Ginger and Lemon Soup with Gluten Free Bread.  The soup was lovely and the roll was actually quite nice as well, which makes a change as often GF bread is not the best.

Little pond outside the pub.

We arrived home mid afternoon.  A very pleasant way to spend a few hours, good company, gorgeous views even in the wet.

  1. It is lovely to go out for a treat, I often find I prefer homemade.
    Those Roosters are magnificent.
I would so love to see the parakeets.
