My CBD Oil Diary and Chronic Neuropathic Pain/CRPS

April 2018:

It is now a year since my pain levels have increased significantly and now pretty much encompasses my whole body.  Worse areas are my back, neck, left shoulder, right shoulder,  right arm (the whole arm) and legs, left hip/buttock.  My back 'burns' and I get a burning sensation often that encompasses the whole body, starting at my feet and 'filling' up my body.

While I was away my husband did a lot of research into CBD Oil and is convinced it will work for my chronic pain.  I am willing to give anything a go as so far NOTHING has worked.  This is my diary of my experience with it so far.

I am using Charlotte's Web Everyday Advanced  by The Stanley Brothers.

6th April - started taking the drops, 8 drops twice a day.
7th April - got terrible stomach cramps and diarrhea, not sure if related to the oil or not.
8th April - no change to pain levels whatsoever, in fact they are especially heightened at the moment.
9th April - stomach still doesn't feel the best.  Pain levels still really bad.
13th April - been having more headaches than usual, and also have a 'dry' top lip.  Wondering if these are side effects to the CBD Oil so have cut down to 4 drops twice a day instead.
17th April - headaches seem to have abated and dry lip has gone, pain still really bad so going to try 6 drops twice a day.

I have to admit at this stage I was hoping I was going to see some positive benefits...I know it is still early days yet and I have have been suffering from pain for a long time, but still... I guess I must have patience, perhaps it is going to take longer.

18th April - woken up this morning in as much pain as ever, especially round the upper thoracic torso area which pretty much feels as if it has been embraced in a searing hot vice all night.  Lower back, hips and legs also not feeling the best.

Additional strange symptoms that I forgot to mention earlier is I am now getting a sharp nerve pain in my middle finger of my right hand when I try to grip something with pressure - eg. cutting something with a knife.  Also when reaching out my arm to draw a curtain.  Sigh.

23rd April - today I am upping the dose back up to the 8 drops which is what is the recommended dosage for pain.  Still no obvious effect, still as painful as ever. A few days ago I decided to stop the Vitamin D, Magnesium and Ashwagadon that I was taking just in case they were 'interfering' with any positive effects.  I usually cut the Vitamin D down at this time of year anyway.  I was trying to think of a way to explain the pain my whole body feels, and I think it must be a bit like I have hot blood coursing through my body as it is everywhere.

25th April - After the last few days, I decided to try the full dropper approach.  Some people seem to recommend this dosage for bad pain.  If that doesn't work I will have a break of a couple of days and then try the opposite, 'micro-dosing' until I find the level that works.

26th & 27th April - No drops

28th April - started micro-dosing, got up to five drops, then other events intervened and I had to stop

29th April - continued with microdosing, got up to 7 drops, but felt so awful had to go to bed.

30th April - just going to take two drops a day for a while and see if it makes a difference taking much less.  Pain levels are still really bad and I feel completely fed up.

3rd May - some new oil (a different strain) arrived today.

Going to try this and see if this helps.

4 drops taken this afternoon, 5 in the evening.

4th May:
I woke up not feeling in quite so much pain this morning...is this perhaps a good sign?

5 drops taken morning and evening.  I did gag several times this morning when swallowing... but fortunately not this evening.  The oily taste isn't exactly pleasant, but I really don't care if it is going to work.  Certainly I have had a better day today than I have had in ages.  Is it the fact we have had two days of sunshine in a row, or perhaps the start of pain relief?  Oh I really hope so.  I feel quite positive for a change and can produce a genuine smile rather than one manufactured to hide the pain.

It was quite clearly 'just a better day than normal'

9th May:  Really terrible pain day, had to knock myself out and suffer the medical 'hangover' the following day, but at least I got a good night's sleep!

20th May:  So I have been taking the new oil for over two weeks now and have worked up to 8 drops a day.  No change in pain levels which is really disappointing.  So many people seem to have almost instant results, with me, nada!

My finger pain and numbness is getting worse.  I can't cut bread anymore without sending shocks of 'electricity' down my finger into my hand.  My elbows are still very painful and difficult to bend and straighten especially if I have been doing an activity which requires predominance in one position or the other.  This week I have a physio appointment, nerve conduction tests in the right side and another appointment at the Pain Clinic - perhaps this week he will actually examine me??

1st June:  A new CBD oil arrived today. About three weeks ago  I suggested CBD oil to a friend's husband who suffers with pain, as I have read so many good things about how well it works for people.  He tried it and has relief!!  I was so pleased, so now I am trying the one he bought.  Boy does it taste foul though!  It has a very very strong taste.

7th June;  Seven days in with using BioBloom CBD Drops and any effect - nope.  Burning pain in right side very intense today and the usual pains still there.  This is getting rather depressing, especially when I read all the success stories on how quickly it helps people.

27th July:  Some new drops arrived today - I know several people who have tried these with amazing results - I am hopeful...

  1. It might be worth getting some medical advice as it could become addictive due to the hemp content. Here's hoping that you finally get some pain relief.

    1. Thank you. :) This isn't supposed to be addictive in any way. My husband has been very thorough in his research as he knows my views on medications of any kind. Certainly it is far less addictive (with far less side effects (if any!) than any drug the medical profession can give you. Hoping it will work - but after my walk today, even more knackered and sore than usual!
