Teddy Bear Tuesday

Today has been pretty dreary and damp, so I decided to spend the day sewing, although I fizzled out in the afternoon due to the headache I woke with not getting any better, so I went to bed for a few hours.  Felt a bit groggy when I woke, but headache was gone and after dinner I went for a walk.

Many many years ago in my 'other life' as I call when I lived in NZ, I used to make soft toys to sell in my Dad's shop.  A couple of years ago I brought the patterns home from where I had stored them at his place and today I finally got them out to make something.  I didn't have any fur fabric so decided to use a tea towel I had that I had been saving for something 'special'.  I have had the tea towel a fair few years as well!

Pieces cut out and ready to sew together.

Pieces sewn together ready to stuff...the head has already been started.

Finished Teddy!

I'm pretty pleased with how he turned out.

With the other two new bears I have just made.

As I mentioned above I went for a short walk this evening to help clear the cobwebs...

When I got down to the bay there was a couple having a bonfire at the other end of the bay, which was a little surprising.

As you can see pretty dreary, but it stayed dry for my walk.

The lighthouse.

Hawk or Buzzard?  Photo not brilliant as only had my little handheld pocket camera with me this evening.

These are in someones garden that I see on my way home.

Hopefully I will get the little dresses made for the TRDs tomorrow as I would like to get them finished before the end of the month.

  1. The teddy is gorgeous, you're certainly very talented when it comes to sewing toys and dolls. A few months ago you wrote about some books you'd read and I think they were about a farm/village/vet based on real life stories. Do you know the ones I'm talking about and if so could you let me have the name of the author. I need something to read and remember I liked the sound of them. Many thanks. xx

    1. Thank you :) It was Derek Tangye. I am actually reading his books at the moment. They are a good gentle read in the current time. I was going to send you one! I can't at the moment as not allowed (according to the NHS letter) to go to shops etc...not that I would want to, as this virus terrifies me!

    2. Thank you. I'm going to order one because I remember you saying they were a nice read. It's lovely of you to think about sending me one, but I'd rather you stayed safe and obeyed the NHS letter about self isolating. Take care of yourself. xx

  2. I thought the flamingos were the fabric, I do love your iron board cover. Your teddy bear is pretty. I have a huge stash of tea towels, I keep for sewing, or if not used they will make my kitchen colourful when I use them there. I'm glad you are feeling better, some days we just have to give in and listen to our bodies.
