Tuesday Walk - Bonchurch Landslip

I had a lovely walk today.  I actually drove to the walk, as I knew I wouldn't have the stamina to walk from home.  I stupidly paid the £2.50 fee parking only to then be told by someone that parking is currently free during the coronavirus crisis.  Oh well...

I hadn't done this walk before, but thought it would be a cooler place to walk due to the shelter of the bush.  I was right it was really lovely.

Such pretty start to the walk, this looked promising.

Down....

....looking back.

A pretty foxglove

Now this is something I grew in my Hertfordshire Garden, but don't have any down here.

Rhododendron.

A wishing seat!

Lovely woods.

A glimpse of the sea.

Ships at anchor - I think I counted about seven!

Little plumes of smoke coming from them, and you could hear a rumble. I guess they have their engines ticking over.  I've duplicated some of the photos as I took one with each camera.  Amazing how the colours come out so different.

A small speed boat.

It was such a strange sight.

The sky was incredibly blue.

Monks Bay.

There were a few people making the most of the good day, but all sensibly away from each other.  No large groups like I saw Bank Holiday Friday BEFORE lockdown was eased.

It was a really lovely beach.

I didn't stay there for long, just had a walk along the beach and the concrete boardwalk and back as it was so hot.

Back up - steps!

A different route back.

More steps going up.

Devils Chimney

Looking back down.

A different view of the ships.

I think I am in danger of becoming a ship spotter/anorak...or whatever they may be called!

A lovely tea garden, closed of course.

Would be a lovely place to come and enjoy a cream tea I am sure.

I am not sure what this building is.  I suspect a lookout point at some point in the past.

Shortly after this I was back at the car park so I made my way home for lunch.

A really lovely walk out and a perfect walk to avoid the heat of the day.

Amazing to think last week I could hardly walk down to the end of the driveway!

  1. That certainly was a lovely walk but I couldn't cope with all those steps. You are obviously enjoying your new home. Keep safe.

    1. Thank you, it is really lovely here...most of the time. But then that is like everywhere I guess. The steps were hard work!

  2. What a pleasant place to visit on a hot day, so green and shady. Did you sit on the Wishing Seat and make a wish? I think it is a lovely idea :)

  4. Wow, another great walk with amazing views. Not sure about the steps but they certainly feed the imagination wondering who has walked them before you.

  5. What a beautiful walk. I'd be OK going down all those steps but not sure I'd get back up again. I wonder how many you climbed in total? Did you sit in the seat and make a wish :) xx
