Saturday Sorted.

A mid morning walk today as I was slightly later up and then rang my Dad and chatted to him for an hour which was nice.

Ships out at sea.

Countryside views.

Crows on the field.

A nice place to stop for a while.

To watch the view.

Rhododendron starting to flower.

Back at home...

Flowers I received yesterday as a thank you for the little rag dolls I gave my neighbour.

I went up to the garden to pick some produce for lunch:

The first radishes, salad leaves and celery.

All very tasty indeed.

Lovely view while I ate lunch.

I watched a crow chase a buzzard - you can see the buzzard has his head turned upwards in this photo.

This afternoon I sat out and wrote in my journal.

Such a clear division between the sky and sea today.

The moon in the sky.

Another buzzard.

Up in our sycamore tree.

Flying off again.

I managed to capture quite a few shots.

The beautiful clematis up the side of our house.

I spent quite a bit of time in the garden this afternoon.  Mowing the back lawn, although didn't manage to finish it as the batteries just don't last long enough, so will finish it tomorrow.

Badgers had got into my compost bin and made a right mess.

Basically they emptied it completely!  The compost was doing really well too.
I cleaned up what was left.

and put heavier and more bricks/slabs in front of it.

The potatoes are growing nicely.

The peas will soon be ready to attach themselves to the string.

Gooseberries are coming along nicely.

I think I might dig this clump of grass stuff out!

A Corizus hyoscyami  (commonly called a cinnamon bug)

The beetle was on a plant on the bank beside the shed which got me thinking as I looked at it.

Such a mess...

I had a closer look at there are a couple of brick walls and tiers, so I thought I would start clearing it to make it a more useful space and garden.

Looking clearer.

I've moved the water butt out as it wasn't actually attached to anything to collect water and was blocking the pathway to the area.  It will be easier to access the shed now as well.

I will do some more work on it this coming week.

  1. Eating from your garden already, you are way ahead of us. A joy to visit and see the beauty that surrounds you once again. Take care.

  2. Sounds like an idyllic day! Some chatting, some journaling, a bit of work and good food! Perfect! Your buzzard pics are pretty spectacular - you must have a great camera to get such closeups.
It's been freezing here today but its to be expected as we head into winter I suppose :(

    1. Yes it wasn't a bad day. My camera is okay, but I could do with a better one, it is very old now. It has never been quite as good as it was, after it stopped working a few years ago and I had to get it repaired.

Not been very warm here today, we have reverted to typical English weather!

  3. Crikey, I'll bet you'll sleep well tonight with all that fresh air and hard work you've been doing :) What a lovely gift to your neighbour and from your neighbour. I love sweet williams, and they're one of my friends favourite flower. Wonderful photos of the buzzard. It's as though he's specially posing for you. xx

    1. I wish I could say I did! I always feel like I should sleep really well when I have a busy day outside, but my sleep is the same as every night, disturbed...partly through pain and partly through hot burning waves that start at my toes, and work its way up, prickling as it does so. I assume it is the damn menopause, but it is lasting a long time! Clearly the Sage and Red Clover aren't doing their job!

Thank you for your compliments on the buzzard. Just love watching them.

  4. Good heavens. You are harvesting stuff and no one here will even have planted most of it. I have never known anyone grow celery. I often grow radishes and love them. I'm not going to plant any vegetables this year although if I get my polycarbonate tunnel later this year I mat start again next year.

My most likely animal foe, apart from the occasional rabbit, would be likely to be deer which are now roaming quite close to the house occasionally.

  5. Great pictures! Cinnamon bugs are very attractive. I don't think we have them in Canada. Hopefully they are not the kind of bug that does any harm in the garden.
