Second Post Tuesday.

Gosh what a beautiful morning!

The day has been lovely, not too hot, a slight breeze.

I took myself off for a walk after breakfast.

The cows and their calves were in the fields.  This cheeky little one was quite inquisitive.

Something I have just starting seeing the last week or so is plane trails across the sky.

A butterfly resting on the footpath.

Sea views of course with ships at anchor in the distance.

The shimmering, glittering sea.

They look like they are just 'perched' on top of the water.  From left to right:  Apollon Highway a vehicle carrier, Marella Discovery and Florida Highway.

Another Fritillary butterfly.

I decided to walk to the Ventnor Botanical Gardens as it is ages since I have been there.

Stunning Echium

It was good to see the pond full again, as last time I was there it was empty.

Cute turtles.

I enjoyed a lovely walk round the gardens and took rather a few photos!

I got home just before lunch.  I had been able to buy some fresh eggs from a gate near me first thing this morning, so I enjoyed a fried egg on GF toast for lunch.  It was delicious.  Nothing beats a real fresh egg - the yolk was a lovely rich yellow.

My new spade arrived the other day so I thought I better put it to work, but the ground in the orchard is pretty hard where I wanted to dig. I  had planned to dig out the last two cutty grass stumps, but gave up.  I did do some weeding round the fruit bushes - there are lots of gooseberries already!  Argghh!  I don't have any jars - left them behind in Hertfordshire, so might have to get DH to package some up to send to me as I think they will ripen a lot earlier than they do up there and I don't want to waste any.

The potatoes are growing well.  I have three plots of potatoes!  I don't think I am going to be wanting for any.

I felt a bit overwhelmed today with the garden, not knowing quite what to do and where.  Everything is growing so fast, and with me not feeling quite as energetic and motivated as I was while on steroids, it is more of a struggle.  It is a lot of work for a chronic pain sufferer!  Especially when I know what it is like now to have far less pain, to have it come back is a real kick in the teeth. Sometimes I just have to give in.  After receiving rather a few nettle stings, I decided to give in and came inside to upload my photos from this morning instead.  The grass is really long again, so need to remember to put the lawn mower batteries on charge this evening so I can mow it again tomorrow.

Lovely to see this flower.  I bought it off a little gate front stall near me.

A panel fell off the gate the other day.

So I nailed it back on.

Looks a bit better from the front than it does the back.  Not perfect, but okay for the tools I had available.

  1. Love all your photos, and those turtles are so adorable :)
Looking at those ships, you can see why people used to think the world was flat!
Take care - pace yourself and don't go overdoing it, Mxx

    1. Thank you. Yes indeed, it is certainly strange to see those ships in the distance like that.

I'm not very good at pacing myself, it is all or nothing, depending on how I feel! You would have thought I would have learned by now... but then perhaps I am getting a bit better at it, just doing a little bit of gardening a day.
