Fearless Friday

I stood quietly, watching and listening in a stand of bush.  The birds were so busy going about their daily lives.  I saw some long tailed tits, the first I have seen since living on the island, they have to be one of my favourite birds over here...they remind me a little of the NZ Fantail, but not as bold and friendly, much more cautious.  There were also blue tits, robins and sparrows.  It was an absolute delight.

My walk today also included spending some time on one of the local beaches.  I clamber down to these beaches a bit like a mountain goat!  I am getting quite adept at walking over rocks and boulders and the like.  Hence the 'Fearless Friday' title.

It looks like at some stage there was a structure of some kind...perhaps steps, and a small platform/jetty?

So nice to have this lovely place to myself to sit and breath a while.

I walked approximately 4 miles today

I spent some time finishing the little rag doll for my neighbour.

A little heart embroidered on her chest, features, hair, and little felt shoes.

I wrote a little note, dated and signed the back.

Pantaloons.

The back of the dress does up with a little button

A little reversible apron.  I didn't take a photo of the other side.

The back of the apron.

Out in the garden before I wrapped her and popped her through the neighbours letter box.

I spent some time just reading and had a little snooze in the afternoon before I went outside to decide what to tackle in the garden.

Yesterday I discovered a series of steps virtually buried... so decided to start uncovering them.

Not finished, but made good progress.  There are 13 steps in all.

I managed to get a shopping order to be delivered and am currently waiting on it...I've received an email and 50% of my order is unavailable (although last night everything was available when I updated it)... of course it is all the staples - the important things that aren't available.  Sigh...  Guess I will be having my cereal with water instead of my usual non-dairy yogurt.

Last Day in March!

Gosh how did the end of March get here so quickly?

I left for my walk before breakfast this morning.  Normally I like to eat breakfast first, but I thought I would try an earlier time for my walk.

Through the woods I go, an old stone wall, the remains of what would once have been a park wall I believe.

Who you looking at?

A waterfall, albeit a small one...

and another...the track to the beach is getting worn away by the water.

Fossils in the rocks.

Shadow

The bay to myself, it was bliss.

The blue of the sea against the blue sky of the morning, just fabulous.

2.5 miles walked today.

I've walked approximately 63 miles this month.

I've been on the IOW 8 weeks today!

In the garden this afternoon I attacked a new patch of ground.

Before

After.  I will dig this over again.  I am not sure what I am going to plant here yet.  Might be parsnips, I am not sure.  I wish I had some boards to border the garden, but no wood was left here, just old carpet! lol  Could have done with some boards of wood being left, or even stakes would have been good.  Hard work!  Was pleased when I finished.

It has been another really lovely sunny day.  Just a patch of cloud in the middle of the day when it looked like it might not be so nice, but then the sun came back out again.

Sunday Stroll

It was a chilly morning and I thought I'd gone out extra early this morning, forgetting that the clocks had gone forward!  I passed 5 people on my walk today...sigh...I know it is sad to feel that way...but I'd rather not see anyone at the moment.  I pulled my mask over my face to walk past them, they gave me funny looks, but I said without a spleen you have to be careful!  On the cliff path it is impossible to be two metres apart when passing in places. Gone are the cheery hellos that seemed to be the norm.  I still try and give one, but don't always get one back at the moment.

But on a whole, the walk was quiet and beautiful, although cold and windy!

After not walking yesterday and my feet giving me a lot of pain I decided I really do need to walk daily.  I am now down to 2.5 mg of Prednisilone, and have been for a week and it seems the pain levels are increasing again.  I am hoping it was just a 'blip' last night... I've been doing so well.  I'd forgotten how bad the pain in my feet can be at night.

A lovely 5 mile walk, a great way to start the day.

In my garden today:

A flower on one of the strawberry plants!

Blue Monday

Well it has certainly been a Blue Monday today in the nicest possible way.

A stunning blue sky first thing this morning that has lasted all day.

Can't complain at this.

I checked on the seed growth this morning when I went up the garden.

Some are sprouting very nicely.

I planned to spend the afternoon in the garden, but had a bit of a headache, so took myself off for a walk.

Looking down at one of the rocky bays.

I ended up in the Botanical Gardens, no one around which was great.  I did see the odd couple from a great distance, but on a whole I was on my own.

The magnolias were looking stunning.

Camellias looking beautiful as well.

No playground activities.

Not a soul in sight.

So lovely to see colour in the gardens.

Nature continues to delight.

I spent quite a lot of time watching this lovely Robin.

Just look at that fabulous blue sky.

As I was going down the steps to Steephill Cove I saw a beautiful butterfly warming its wings.

I was alone on the beach which was just perfect.

I sat and watched the waves for a while.

I was out about two hours and walked approx 4.5 miles.

I made myself a lovely lunch when I got home and read for a while and then fell asleep on the arm chair!  I then woke with a very foggy head feeling quite lethargic so I think I overdid things yesterday so decided not to work in the garden this afternoon.
