Sunday afternoon Walk (posted on Wednesday!)

The day after my birthday my husband and I went for a lovely walk along the cliff and then coastal paths.  He hadn't been that way before, so it was lovely to share one of my regular walks with him.

As we came out of our gate I spied a butterfly on the bank and was able to capture a photo of it.  I have been seeing butterflies for a few weeks now which is lovely.  Really feels like spring when you start to see the butterflies out and about.

Walking along the cliff path.

Container ships out at sea.

A dilapidated barn that I walk past.

My husband

He looks happy!

The view from the seat.

A picture of me.

It was really lovely to have someone to walk with and chat to.
(I also enjoyed the walks I did with my son and daughter in law the previous days but didn't take my camera on those walks).

This photo was taken from our deck later in the afternoon.

My husband goes home this evening.  It has been a lovely week of having first my son and daughter in law here for a few days before my husband arrived, then having all three, and then just hubby after my son and his wife left Saturday night.  It has gone way too quickly though.  Much has been achieved which is good as it was nice to have some help with jobs that weren't so easy to do on my own. We even managed to fill up the wood store today with wood from a neighbour that we went and collected by filling up the boot of the car a couple of times.  I will post another update of what has been done hopefully tomorrow.

Wednesday Words & Pictures.

Does anyone know what this weed (?) is growing in my front lawn?  it is the only part of the lawn that is actually green!

It is starting to cover quite a large patch of lawn.

These are the flowers

Blue sky!  The solar panels have been working hard the last few days.

Always beautiful.

The gunnera is looking better now I have trimmed off the dead leaves and given it a good water.  I also spotted at least five goldfish in the pond today, so they are still there!  They weren't visible for long though.

Spider with some prey.

The pears are starting to look good, need to get a bit bigger yet though, they aren't as 'big' as they look in these two photos.

I picked this apple!

The grapes.

I now know what the circular 'clumps' in the orchard are...they are cyclamen...whatdoyacallits.

I think this is brussels?  I need to check my planting notes.

On my walk...

Down at the beach, gorgeous.

I went for a paddle and wished I'd had my swimsuit and a towel as it was so hot down there.

Actually it has been so hot all day, another scorcher for sure.

Just so beautiful.

A bit of excitement to watch on my walk home... a helicopter hovering

a boat speeding a long

Just cruising...

Helicopter getting closer.  I thought it was a police helicopter, but when I uploaded the photos I saw...

...it was a coastguard helicopter.

It seemed to 'chase' after the boat

and then hover over the top of it for a very long time.  But they are both coastguard vessels, so thinking perhaps they were doing some kind of training exercise.

Pretty as a butterfly in the sun.

Dry fields with an 'anvil cloud' (cumulonimbus incus) in the distance...I wonder if thunder is coming? It is forecast to.

Still cruising along...

Some teasels.

Not a particular active day apart from my walk, but better than yesterday.  The heat was just way too much for me yesterday and I ended up with a bad migraine and stomach discomfort.  Fortunately it didn't last too long, the tablets did the trick.

Wednesday - Another Busy Day.

A lovely sunny day today.

I spent most of it in the front garden as I was waiting for the freezer delivery.

Butterflies on the climber.

As I had to be at the front of the house today I thought I would work on something I had been planning to do for quite some time now.  Three years ago I sanded down an old set of drawers, and was really pleased with the result it can be seen here: Furniture Restoration.

This little old bedside cabinet has seen better days.

The top is sanded.

I had to put paint/varnish stripper on the sides and front.  It looks a bit rough at the moment, but it will hopefully look good when I finish it.  It is currently still a work in progress.

Laundry ready for the freezer.  It was due between 1 and 5pm and arrived promptly at 1pm which was good.

In situ.

I want to get some shelves to go over the washing machine eventually.

This enabled me to go for a walk mid afternoon which was good.

The little church was open so I went in for a look around.  It has a lovely stained glass window.

There is a lovely view from the church garden.

I discovered the village pump.

While I was on my walk I spotted a set of drawers with a 'FREE' sign on them.  So I walked home and collected the car to go and pick it up.

It is quite sturdy, the drawers slide well and it will do us a turn.  I might be able to unpack some boxes!

A short walk today: 2.4 miles.

I also did some sewing this morning in between coats of paint stripper.

I was asked to try out a pattern a friend had drafted.

The short sleeve top fits well.

I took the little rag doll outside for a couple of photos.
