Blue Monday

I went out extra early this morning.  It was a lovely morning and the best part of the day as it clouded over and has been rather cold most of the day.  It seemed warmer this morning!

Some pretty blossom.

Just look at this amazing blue sky.

Today I saw another red squirrel, a couple of rabbits, a little wren and a hawk.

I had the walk to myself

St Catherine's lighthouse.

Castlehaven Cove.

It was so pretty down there.

I saw a total of five people while out, all but one walking dogs, the other was a cyclist, and all on my way home.  I put my mask to pass them, fortunately the road was wide, so we could do so at a good distance, while saying hello.  I was asked by one lady today where I got my mask from, and she was amazed when I said I made it.  I walked 5 miles today.

The rest of the day has been a little quiet.  I've been a bit cold today.  I watered the plants in the glass house and inspected my 'fence' around my beans and was pleased to see they haven't been interfered with.

I've been trying to track down a good source of guinea pig pellets as my normal supplier won't deliver to the Island unfortunately.  Pre-lockdown this wouldn't have been a problem as I could have ordered them to be delivered to Hertfordshire, and my husband could have brought them down for me.  This is a nuisance!  Not sure what I am going to give the piggies.

  1. You are very lucky to be able to walk so far without seeing many people or being told to go home. Will you and your husband have to stay separated until all this is over now?! We've had to buy a different brand of dog food as a last resort thsi week. Wendy will eat it but Sparky won't, he's much more fussy. Luckily we have 2 bags of their normal food in stock so I'm saving that for him. Pets can be just as fussy as humans with their food. Stay well. xx

    1. Yes, I am lucky. If I was still in Hertfordshire, this wouldn't be possible. Yes hubby and I will now be separated until this is all over. Not what we had planned! Our whole family is spread all over the place, but perhaps we are all safer being on our own? Who knows. They had the food in stock, just can't deliver to the IOW which is frustrating.
Thank you, safe well wishes for you too.

  2. It's good to get out and about, wish we could, we are still on week 1 of our 4 week lockdown, can't wait to see some scenery.

    1. We are on lockdown, but allowed out for exercise...if I still lived where we used to live, I wouldn't be able to go out for walks, I am lucky we live in an area that is fairly secluded.

  3. I envy you and your walks along the coast, so I am enjoying them vicariously through your posts :)
I do hope you find food for the guinea pigs soon. That is quite a worry.

  4. You have a lovely area to walk in. Don't your little animals eat other stuff besides pellets? Like veges? Worth a try?

    1. Hi, thank you, I am lucky to have a relatively secluded area to walk in. Yes they do, although the pellets form an important part of their diet, and fresh vegetables are hard enough to get hold of at the moment for humans, let alone guinea pigs! :) I do pick grass for them...

  5. Deliveries are difficult here on the Isle of Lewis too. Amazon??? Sometimes we get lucky. Stay safe.

  6. Good heavens. When I sent my last comment the mamasmercantile comment wasn't there. I had no idea that you had two followers from the Island.
