Hubby's Birthday and a Walk: The Pearl to Brighstone Beach & Back

Tuesday was my husband's birthday so we went to The Pearl near Brighstone for lunch.

It was a lovely day so we were able to enjoy eating our lunch outside.

The view from where we sat.

After lunch we decided to walk down to the beach so we could walk to Brighstone Beach.

At the beginning of the walk, after descending the steps.

The beach was empty, so we were able to let Stanley off.

How wonderful to have this beautiful beach all to ourselves"

He enjoyed the freedom, although doesn't generally go far from us.

Hurry up he seems to be saying...

Such a handsome dog.

The cliffs had eroded quite a bit.

Some strange concrete object in the sea...not sure if it had fallen down the cliff, having been part of a structure at some stage in the past.

Looking out to sea.

Poor dead crab.

We walked back to The Pearl along the top of the cliff, coastal path.

More of the cliff falling away.

A very lovely afternoon.

Farringford Gardens

Now the summer holidays are over and the island is quieter, it is time to get out and explore a bit more.

We last went to Farringford Garden's, the home of Alfred, Lord Tennyson in August 2019, during an impromptu week away, and the week we bought our house on the island!  It was nice to be able to go back and have a lovely wander around.

We are looking forward to when the house opens to visitors next year as it has been fully restored, and sounds like it will be really interesting to look around.

The gardens were looking beautiful

A very pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

We had previously had lunch at The Pearl and was most impressed by the quality of the food, very fresh and delicious.
