Hmmmm

A walk along Shanklin Beach

A slip

Heart in a rock.

By late afternoon the sky had completely clouded over...what a surprise...not

Unusual Sky Behaviour After an Aircraft Flew Overhead.

Living by the coast, I am used to the weather changing a lot, and the differing sky patterns, however what happened yesterday was extremely unusual.  We don't get a lot of planes fly overhead, usually just light aircraft and the odd spitfire.

Yesterday morning was a beautiful morning with a completely blue sky.  I then heard what sounded like an aircraft overhead flying backwards and forwards, and this has happened before, but they have never left trails like this, EVER!

I wasn't the only person to notice this, as the delivery driver said the same later in the afternoon when he dropped off a packaged.

This was the result

The whole sky became completely covered with these 'trails'.

Notice the streaks coming down from these 'trails'

Now this is what you usually see when an aircraft flies overhead... no trails.

This was yesterday as well.

The day gradually changed as these trails 'thickened' up.

Until it became this!

From my almost two years here of observing the weather and cloud patterns I have never seen something like this happen before.

Oh and I noticed the weather app completely changed from what it was reading in the morning for the next few days forecast...not that I usually believe that anyway, but a complete change in just a few hours???

Walks & Wordy Wednesday

Or rather photo heavy Wednesday!  This is a bit of a catch up post.

Last Friday was spent photographing all the damage done to our furniture and bikes - quite significant damage! (83 photos!!)  I will be writing more about this later, but currently waiting on a response from the removal company.

Saturday the weather was starting to look decidedly miserable as Storm Dennis approached.  I spent the day working in the house.  One of the neighbours popped round in the afternoon and we had a cuppa which was a nice interlude as I was getting rather bored with my tidying and sorting!

Sunday was  a very lazy sofa day.  I think the previous 10 days caught up with me.  Late afternoon/early evening I spent some time watching the sea.

It was rather choppy

I watched some ships

It was very dreary out at sea indeed.

A regular seagull perch.

The sky in the late afternoon was amazing and glowed red.

One thing I love about living here is how quickly the sky and sea vista can change.

Late Monday afternoon after a rather wet and dreary day it cleared up so I went for a walk

It was very windy still and the sea wild.

You can see the way this ship is rolling on the ocean just how choppy it is out at sea!

Certainly glad I wasn't on it!

This place is gradually losing their garden down the cliff.  The slips aren't far away from their shed/garage now.

Yesterday I went for a lovely morning walk. I am very fortunate to have so many lovely places to walk straight from my doorstep.  So I set off for the Botanical Gardens in Ventnor.  They certainly didn't disappoint.

Their magnificent Magnolias were in flower.

What a treat they were.

We even had some blue sky yesterday which was lovely as well, and made the perfect backdrop

I enjoyed a lovely wander round the garden

A carpet of daffodils.

Camellias.

Love the bright red berries against the green.

I then headed down to Steephill Cove.

I had a little walk round the cove.

I then walked along and back up across the top and headed back to the Botanical Gardens and treated myself to a cup of tea and a scone.

I decided to walk back home via the coastal path which was absolutely wonderful.

Looking down at Mount Bay

Such fabulous scenery.  It was windy and fresh, but fortunately not too cold.
