Wednesday - Another Busy Day.

A lovely sunny day today.

I spent most of it in the front garden as I was waiting for the freezer delivery.

As I had to be at the front of the house today I thought I would work on something I had been planning to do for quite some time now.  Three years ago I sanded down an old set of drawers, and was really pleased with the result it can be seen here: Furniture Restoration.

This little old bedside cabinet has seen better days.

The top is sanded.

I had to put paint/varnish stripper on the sides and front.  It looks a bit rough at the moment, but it will hopefully look good when I finish it.  It is currently still a work in progress.

Laundry ready for the freezer.  It was due between 1 and 5pm and arrived promptly at 1pm which was good.

I want to get some shelves to go over the washing machine eventually.

This enabled me to go for a walk mid afternoon which was good.

The little church was open so I went in for a look around.  It has a lovely stained glass window.

There is a lovely view from the church garden.

I discovered the village pump.

While I was on my walk I spotted a set of drawers with a 'FREE' sign on them.  So I walked home and collected the car to go and pick it up.

It is quite sturdy, the drawers slide well and it will do us a turn.  I might be able to unpack some boxes!

A short walk today: 2.4 miles.

I also did some sewing this morning in between coats of paint stripper.

I was asked to try out a pattern a friend had drafted.

The short sleeve top fits well.  

I took the little rag doll outside for a couple of photos.

Sunday Summary

A quiet weekend...

The sun was lovely this morning, but I had a very slow start as woke during the night with a terrible headache for some reason.... it eventually cleared by late afternoon.  This is the room I sleep in when the road noise is quiet - which isn't very often, but this bed is more comfortable than ours, so when I can I sleep in here.

This afternoon we went up to see our DIL and to go out for a meal at the local pub.  I was supposed to be cooking but due to the delay to my day because of the bad head, we decided to have a meal out instead.  It was lovely!  First time we have eaten there and I can see us going back.  On the way home the bells were ringing in the church and it was beautifully lit up.  What a lovely way to finish the day.

Church, Singing, Garden

I seem to have lost my blogging mojo at the moment....in fact I think I have lost my mojo!

Since October I have been singing in a church choir which has been a totally new experience for me, particularly as I have only been singing for about nine months - having always said 'I am a wind player, I don't sing!'    Plus as a non-church goer it has been very different!  We wear gowns to sing so it is quite formal, but I love the singing and the learning of a different genre of music to what I have played and sung before.

Anyway last week we got to sing in the Chapel at Hatfield House for Epiphany which was a lovely experience to be able to sing in this historic Chapel which was consecrated in 1614.

Our usual church we sing in is St Ethelreda's in Old Hatfield.  This church dates to the 13th Century although has been updated since then!  The tower was constructed in the 15th Century.

This morning I decided to take the opportunity of taking a photo of the church as it was such a lovely clear albeit cold morning!

  This afternoon I had a little wander around our garden.

A rose is bravely flowering
