I opened my curtains this morning to discover the front lawn looked a little bit like little grenades had been dropped all over it.
To say I was not very happy is an understatement.
The neighbours have been clearing the front of their property on the bank - it looks good, but unfortunately it also means that it has given badgers easier access to our property.
So a digging they have been doing all over my front lawn. Yet I still haven't seen them, despite the fact that I leave the blinds in the lounge open until I go to bed, and any time I wake during the night I have a look out the window! If they are going to destroy my garden they could at least let me see them!
A few weeks ago I had a Sainsbury's order. I was rather surprised to see the eggs arrive in a plastic carton, and not very impressed I have to say.
I have since had orders from Tesco that have been in the usual cardboard egg cartons until Friday, when the eggs arrived in similar flimsy plastic cartons.
Not impressed at all!
I picked some more carnations yesterday and in amongst them were some lovely apricot coloured flowers.

Another hat, a slightly looser fit than my blue one. I tried it out on my walk this afternoon as it was pretty cold and windy. It was perfect.
Very grey down on the beach, but hey I had it to myself.
In fact I didn't see anyone else out walking while I was out.

I agree, if the badger are going to make such a mess you should at least be able to get a photo.

DeleteI have noticed more plastic in my shopping, plus all the carrier bags, which we will use until they fall apart. Badgers are a pest, hope you can sort them. Everyone loves a warm hat, love the colours on yours.
ReplyDeleteThank you. The plastic bags here will get used, so not so worried about them, but the plastic egg cartons seems a bit mental. Apparently it is because there is a shortage of wood pulp.

ReplyDeleteGood that you were able to get out for a short walk. We didn't manage a walk yesterday as it just keep raining, when it stopped raining hard it was a daunting drizzle. Today is dry (hooray) and we see our son for the first time since before Lockdown, so I am delighted about that.
I haven't knitted for a couple of years now . . .
It is indeed very unsporting of them. They go to my neighbours around 7 - 7.30 pm and they have managed to get photos of them, but no, they refuse to let me see them, just preferring me to have the results of their endeavours without as you say the pleasure of seeing them which would be good. There was even more mess this morning! Going to make it difficult for my little blind dog Percy when he eventually comes down to stay with all the little pot holes in the lawn. I've been out there again this morning to try and tread them back in.

oh that's not good about the neighbours, you would think they would try to be a bit more careful on your lawn. We are hibernating here so not many chances to get outside.
ReplyDeleteThe neighbours haven't done anything on our lawn, they have just cleared their front bank, which has made it easier for the badgers to get into our front garden.

DeleteI wonder if the plastic egg cartons are due to a shortage of the usual packaging? If so, hopefully they will revert back to cardboard once it is resolved. Our next-but-one neighbours have an entire badger family with youngsters visiting their garden. They see them quite regularly and have managed to get some pictures. I hope yours become more obliging!
