Blue Sky Monday

An absolutely stunning day today after the dismal grey Sunday.

I took myself off for a lovely walk in the afternoon.  I discovered that the lovely little beach cafe that my husband and I used to go to has been 'revamped' and is being run in partnership (I believe) with someone else and now it just serves 'fancy' meals, that are of course more expensive.  Gone are the lovely freshly made simple sandwiches.  Not liking many (any?!) sauces and goo, this means that having a meal or lunch here is probably now ruled out, unless they can make 'normal' sandwiches if you ask, but I suspect if they no longer stock the bread, and only have the fancy buns, then this won't be possible.  Such a shame as it was a great outdoor cafe to sit and have lunch and take in the views.  I might have bought a cuppa while I was there, or an ice cream, but they took contactless card payments only, and I don't have one of those so that also ruled me out of.

On the way back I stopped and and a cup of tea with some friends I have made who have a little wooded section that they have been working on.  Socially distanced in the glade.  We had a grand chat about all sorts of things and it was really nice.  They showed me around their wooded land and told me about its history, it was fascinating, and they have worked wonders with it.  A real little Haven.

Miles walked: 5.3

I worked on clearing the laundry in the morning ready for the freezer delivery on Wednesday.  I have moved the cabinet into the hall cupboard so also had to clear and reorganise that.  Photos tomorrow as I only did the 'before' photo today.

  1. Pity so many cafes think they have to be fancy to be trendy.

    1. It certainly is, I just don't understand it. We would have used this cafe a lot and had done in the past but now we won't sadly.

  2. It is sad when a successful cafe goes "upmarket" and effectively excludes half it's clientele

    1. It is sad, and it seems rather short-sighted to me. It was a very popular Cafe, I heard another person saying yesterday, but I don't need a 'meal' that big, I just want a simple sandwich, I am on my own.
