Afternoon Tea, Red Squirrels and Bird Watching

I had a lovely afternoon with a friend on Tuesday.

We had a delicious afternoon tea.

Plus thoroughly enjoyed watching the red squirrels feeding.

Although we get a lot at our place, they tend to stay in the hazel nut trees, so we don't see them so often.

We also did a spot of bird watching.

Bird Watch: Week Two

I didn't seem to 'see' as many birds this week.  Heard them a lot though, but they seemed to be mostly in hiding.  Quite a few blackbirds were seen at the front, there must be at least two pairs and I saw both 'Mr and Mrs' Blackbirds. What I haven't seen in ages is Nuthatches.  We used to see a lot of them, but I haven't seen one for over a year for some reason.

April 15th: Overcast and damp.  Not sure what I was doing, but although I heard the birds I seemed to have missed seeing them!

April 16th: Blackbirds, Blue Tits,

April 17th:  Naughty squirrels are enjoying the nuts! Goldfinch, Blackbird (Mr)

April 18th;  Glorious Blue sky this morning.  Blackbirds, Great Tits,

April 19th:  Wonderful sunny day, very hot.  Blackbirds, Blue Tits,

April 20th:  Gorgeous hot sunny day.  Blackbirds (front and back) Blue Tits, Great Tits, Sparrow! Out the front, haven't seen a sparrow here in years.  Robin,

Saw a couple of hawks in the air on our way out today.

April 21st:  Dunnock, Blue Tits, Crows,

Bird Watch: Week One

Spring is a good time for watching birds, and I have decided to try and keep a record of birds seen etc... each week.

April 7th.  Filled up bird feeders  - my husband bought me three new bird feeders for the garden for my birthday.  We also put  two bird boxes back up that had fallen down last year.

17.20 - saw first bumble bee of the year.

Birds seen:  Blue Tit, Great Tit, Blackbird, Dunnocks

April 8th:  8.40am:  Birds Seen; Dunnock (2), Chaffinch, Robin, Blackbird (Mr).  A pair of Wood Pigeons courting, a Jay - great to see this, as we haven't seen one for a few years.   Goldfinch, Blue Tits, Dunnocks.

Lovely to see both the Chaffinch and Robin foraging for food together.

(Photos taken through a mucky patio window, so not the best.  Must clean now the weather is a bit brighter...or will I be jinxing the weather?)

April 9th:  Birds Seen:  Goldfinch, Blackbirds, Wood Pigeons, Blue Tits, Great Tit, Dunnocks.

April 10th;  Wood Pigeons courting, Blue Tits, Blackbirds, Jay, Robin, Dunnocks.

April 11th:   Wood Pigeons, Jay, Blue Tits, Dunnocks, Blackbirds,

April 12th:  Wood Pigeons, Blackbird (Mr), Robin, Blue Tits, Goldfinches, Dunnocks.

April 13th:  Robin, Mrs Blackbird, Blue Tits, Wood Pigeons, Dunnock.

April 14th:  Blackbird (Mrs)  Blue Tits.  Out most of today so didn't see so many birds today, although woke to lovely bird song this morning.
