Tree Trimming Thursday

Fortunately today stayed dry all day and for that we are very grateful considering the amount of greenery that had to be traipsed through our conservatory, garage and out the front to go into the tree stump grinder machine.  The guys who did our trees are great workers and did a fantastic job.  They had a lot of trees to lower!  Hard to photograph just how much they did, especially as I forgot to take before photos out the back.  Needless to say we had them lowered significantly and hopefully it will let some more light into the back garden. I will have quite a bit of floor mopping to do tomorrow though!

I did some hand sewing yesterday.  I have been making a mini-quilt.  I thought I'd lost a diamond for a while which was proving frustrating.  I removed the cushions from the settee and eventually found it underneath the actual settee, so that was a relief.

This is what it is looking like so far.  Still have the six double diamonds to sew on the ends, and then some more single diamonds and then I will have to decide just how I want to finish off the top. I am not sure if I am going to sew it on as a block to a background, or piece individual pieces to make up a square shape.  I'll decide once I have got to that stage.

The end bedroom was prepared for DIL to stay the night ready for picking up the Sailor tomorrow morning.

  1. Quilting still seems to be popular although I didn't really realise it until recently. It will be a great relief that the trees have been lopped.

    1. I used to do quite a lot of quilting, and have made a fair few human sized quilts, but not done any for a while. This will just be a very small quilt!

Yes nice to know they are a lot lower for the winter and winds. I think our neighbour is relieved as well as she used to worry about the one out the front...

  2. Your garden will appreciate the extra sunshine, I am sure. I tried quilt making once, but never had the patience to finish it so I truly admire what you are doing. It is looking great.
Enjoy catching up with your son :)

  3. Oh wow, that's absolutely beautiful and as a dabbler in hand sewing I can really appreciate all the work you've put into that. xx
