Soggy Saturday

First thing this morning it wasn't soggy, in fact when I first took Stanley out for his walk just before 8 am there was a lovely blue sky, but by the time I had been walking for about 10 - 15 minutes, the mist had descended and you could barely see the end of the road!  It stayed pretty misty most of the day, did almost clear up a bit but then the rain started coming down mid afternoon.  Fortunately it didn't rain until after I got back from my group walk.

There is another walk tomorrow afternoon which I am looking forward to as it is in a different area, still local, but far enough away that we have to drive to it (I am getting a ride with a walking friend).  I just hope the weather is better than it is this afternoon/evening.

The fireworks have started again - loads of bangs, so the music is back up loud in the kitchen to distract the dogs.  Really hoping this will be the last weekend of fireworks.

This afternoon I have spent quite a bit of time having 'Percy' cuddles which have involved the ever so strenuous exercise of sitting on the settee with a little black and white dog on my lap covered by a blanket and sewing.  I should have been doing some housework, but that will still be there tomorrow.  I had originally planned to do some work in the garden, but far too wet and miserable for that.

It seems I don't have any photos to show other than yet another rag doll photo of today's endeavours!

Today I made her a little jacket.

I'm quite pleased with how this turned out.

In answer to one of the questions in the comments, I have named her Amelia Amborella (Amborella is a small evergreen shrub, and when I was looking up plants with names that started with A the flower of this particular one reminded me of her.)

  1. Amelia Amborella! Oh, I what a gorgeous name, it suits her perfectly. The little jacket is so sweet. I think I like it on her even more than her cardigan.
    Enjoy your Sunday walk :)

  2. Beautiful skilled sewing. They are lovely dolls.
Fireworks are a pain..we had a couple go off in the next street, and were commercial display type fireworks..we though it was gas cylinders exploding.
Have you seen Fresca's dolls at l'astronave? I think it is gugeo.blogspot.com. She makes clothes for dolls as well as organising books in a St.V de P opshop in Minnesota

  3. Well I think you can be certain that Amelia's name will be unique as well as attractive.

Even if you had done the housework it will only return in a few days' time needing to be done all over again. I should know. I dusted my skirting boards a few years ago and they need doing again already.
