Notes on 1st November

Well first of Happy 1st November, the beginning of the penultimate month of this year.

I think I am going to try and go through my blog reading list this month and delete obsolete blogs, and some that I no longer read. Keep to a few of my favourite bloggers so I have the time to read their posts and make comments.  That is the plan any way.

This will also be in my theme of trying to continue with the decluttering/downsizing process.

It has been pretty dull and dreary today and was raining this morning and we have had drizzle on and off most of the day.

Dogs were walked and Stanley had his yearly vaccination.  Percy is no longer able to have one due to his auto-immune disease.

We went down for another look at the bike today and hubby agreed it was a very good price, so we bought it and I rode it home.  It is a nice ride.  I need a bit of practice as it is ages since I have rode a bike, but shouldn't take long to get used to it again.  It is a Pashley Princess Sovereign.  To have found one local at far less than what they usually go for was great.  So I will have to remember to put a big red bow on it for Christmas, as it is my Christmas present this year from family.

I didn't actually take the above photo, hubby to a quick snap on his phone before I rode it home.

Here it is in the garden, just before we put it away.  We need to clear out the bike shed a bit to make room it!  That will be a weekend job.  The garden needs some serious attention too!

  1. I have never been a bike person. I have a poor sense of balance and so am much better at falling off them than staying upright! However, that bike is really very lovely and I am now suffering from bike envy. I am sure that you will get oodles of enjoyment from it.

    1. Thank you Tracy. I am looking forward to using it. Perhaps not the best time of year to get a bike, but the opportunity was too good to miss. Looking forward to a Spring and Summer of bike riding that is for sure.

  3. What a lovely photo of you and what a lovely bike. I had one in my late teens/early 20's with a basket on the front and went everywhere on it. Didn't have a washing machine for a fair few weeks so I'd pile the laundry in it and set off to the launderette every weekend.

Are you going to be good and keep it until Christmas Day or will you be using it before then and adding the red bow at the last minute :) xx

    1. I will use it a little over the next week, just to make sure there aren't any problems with it... but then it will probably be kept until Christmas :)

Would you believe I never learned to ride a bike?

    1. Thank you :) I know quite a few people who never learned to ride a bike. I am lucky I had the opportunity when young. We used to ride our bikes a lot, but I found it was hard on my shoulders and arms in recent years, so hoping this will make a difference.

  5. What a splendidly 'old fashioned' 'proper' bike. I love the Sturmey Archer gears and the Dynohub. Ah. Memories.
