Tuesday Morning Gardening and Afternoon Walk.

I spent some in the garden again this morning as the weather looks like it is going to change significantly.  I strimmed the long grass in the orchard and behind the glasshouse.  Cleaned out the glasshouse and weeded and then 'faffed' with the area that is going to be a feature garden.

I'm not sure exactly yet what I am going to do, but have some ideas

I dug in an old fern stump, and laid a couple of rocks and a 'chunk of wood' down

After lunch I went for a lovely long walk along the cliff path, down through the woods, to the coastal path and then home.

Such a beautiful day and warm enough to walk in my t shirt, although once down by the coast I put my jacket back on as there was a cool sea breeze.

I got home and then got a message from my son to say he is going to hospital with breathing problems after choking so will be waiting on tenterhooks now to find out what is happening. I'm guessing I will probably have to go and pick him up, but am hoping they will take him home again.

 

Monday Gardening

I spent a very industrious few hours in the garden today.

The raised vegetable beds needed serious attention.

I dug up some onions in the process which I will be having with dinner tonight.

Looking better.  I have left in some spring onions (some of which I picked to have with lunch today) and the chard.

I also dug over my compost bins, but none of it is ready yet sadly.  I think they just don't get hot enough unfortunately as although when I built them last year they weren't shaded, by the height of the summer they are when all the big trees in the neighbours garden come into leaf.

What to do with this area... I am thinking a fairly large feature garden with a bird bath, roses and logs and rocks etc...  that will also mean I will have a bit less lawn to mow as well.

A good very productive day in the garden, and I am pleased with what I achieved.

 

Another Monday - Already!

 Arghh!  I really dislike this 'new' blogger interface... it has uploaded my photos in the wrong order yet again, and is so frustrating... I can't be bothered changing them round so will now have to start with what should have been at the bottom of my post!  The whole of blogger now frustrates me, it is a faff visiting other blogs, as you can't just click on the post of a blog in the reading list and it goes straight to the post, no you then have to do it two more times as you acknowledge/agree to all the ridiculous stuff to do so.  I mean if I have clicked on a post I want to read surely that should be enough?!  Rant over.

I enjoyed watching this little Dunnock the other day.

I don't think I have ever seen one use an actual feeder before, so perhaps I am wrong and it is actually a young Robin?  Although it does seem to have the markings of a Dunnock.

I picked some daffodils from my garden, and they smell lovely.

I don't often cut flowers to bring inside, but I just couldn't resist and they are still looking good several days later.

My orchid is still looking lovely.  

Handsome Stanley, who disgraced himself this morning - I woke to find rather a lot of mess on the kitchen floor - from both ends!  Not nice.  I guess his new food doesn't suit him after all which is really frustrating as I just bought a new larger bag after trialling a small bag.  Sigh...

Monday 1st March!

I almost forgot to take my '1st of the Month' photo today, partly as I have felt a bit 'off' today.  I had to have blood tests this morning, the nurse came to my house which was good, but because I fasted, and she had problem with drawing blood, I almost passed out during the second attempt (second arm!).  In the end she had to have another attempt in the first arm, and we had success...but for some reason it left me feeling really quite ill.  I am usually fine having blood tests, and normally there is no problem with drawing out the blood, so must have been a bit dehydrated I guess.  Anyway, I did still take the dogs out for their walk, but I came home exhausted and have rested/slept on and off all day.

It has been another lovely sunny day, but quite cold, with a real bitter wind.

This pair I knitted with Regia 'Pairfect' yarn which was supposed to be 'knot-less' and I got part the way down the ribbing on the first sock, and yes, there was a knot/join, so I wasn't very happy.  I ordered two of these balls of yarn way back in January, one ball still hadn't even been dispatched yesterday, despite when I ordered them, it said they would be delivered in a few days, so I cancelled the order.  I think I have been spoiled with my lovely NZ wool, it is so much nicer to knit with.  I am so sad I haven't been able to stock up on it.  If I had realised I wouldn't be going back for at least two years, I would have bought a lot more while I was over there in 2019.

Standing on the foot stool!  He doesn't quite have the courage to get down from it.  Once up on it, he seems to lose his confidence in getting down.  It is hard when you are blind to judge downwards distances.
