Friday!

I woke with a migraine yesterday so any thoughts of doing anything was completely ruled out so I had an easy day.

We had a tiny bit of rain last night, but still not enough for the garden.

Poppy flower

Beautiful roses, although most are up high in the hedge.

This has started flowering...I know the name, but it currently escapes me.

It was a lovely afternoon

A ferry in the distance.

Oh this one is from yesterday - I think they were probably doing a training exercise as it was hovering around for a while.

This morning I made another batch of jam.  I have labels for these jars - need to make sure I get them on straight!

I made a wholemeal loaf of bread this afternoon for lunch tomorrow.

I painted three more rocks.

I enjoyed an afternoon walk.

The buddleia are starting to flower.

So pretty.  I hope they attract lots of butterflies.

Roadside flowers.

I left a rock.

Admiring the view.

The fields are looking so green.

Fields of wheat.

Delighted to spot some more Marbled White Butterflies.

A pretty rose on the hedge of one of the cottages I pass on my way home.

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.  Hope to catch up with some of you in the morning. Due to yesterday's migraine I am limiting my computer time today.

  1. Fabulous photographs! I love the one of the wheat- it reminds me of my childhood. The plant whose name escapes you is a hydrangea- I have one in the front garden which is gradually turning blue, and I have one in the back garden that I moved recently - I think that one's white, but it could prove me wrong! I need to make some jam as I still have some of last years's gooseberries in the freezer, and this year's will be ready soon. I hope you feel better soon - migraines used to leave me wiped out for days.

  3. I hope you get a bit of rain and don't get into a drought like we just had, I ended up using my washing water to feed my plants.

  4. Sorry about your migraine and I hope it didn't linger.

I have Marbled White envy as we don't get them in Wales. I remember when we lived in Dorset, I had gone for a walk in the Purbecks with a friend of mine and as we stood on the cliff, we could see a strange moving cloud in the distance. It got nearer and nearer and we could see it was butterflies - Clouded Yellows. They arrived and we stood as they flowed around us. Such an amazing experience.

Your garden is pretty - the first rose looks like one of the David Austin ones, with that deep cupped bowl of petals.

  5. Hope you are feeling much better now, migraines are so horrid to have. I too (like Susan) noticed the cookbook LOL, a true kiwi icon :)

  7. I can't recall ever seeing a marbled white. I see plenty of helicopter training flights though because they practice lifting the winchman on and off a nearby island. I like your painted rocks. Something else I have never tried.
