Saturday!

I went for a lovely walk this afternoon, although will say I was surprised to see just how many GROUPS of people were out.  A group of four young men with beer cans walked along the cliff path and stopped down on one of the bays.  All one family?  Somehow I doubt it. There were EIGHT groups of people on one of the beaches!  These are quite small beaches, actually just little bays... but hey ho there you go.  On the one hand I can't blame them, it is a gorgeous day and the temptation is there, but we will never get rid of the virus if people don't maintain social distancing.  All it takes is one asymptomatic person, and it will have spread to a large number of people in just one afternoon.  But that is just my thoughts...I don't usually comment on this, but I was quite shocked today at just how many people were socialising.

But back to more interesting things...

There are some really lovely butterflies out to see.

This beautiful orange tip butterfly is lovely.

There were cows in the fields.

Or perhaps steers?

Delighted to see another Glanville Fritillary Butterfly

Cormorant on the rock.

Pretty wild flowers.

I spent the morning in the garden mowing and strimming the orchard and round the vines.  Jolly hard work, still need to get in with the shears round the bottoms of the fruit bushes, but it just got too hot and I was worn out.  I also weeded the raised vegetable beds and planted out some more seedlings.

The rose bush is looking really lovely.

I finished stitching up the three bears I had partially started yesterday.

The pink and blue ones are made with vintage fabrics.

  1. From what I've seen in the media beaches were packed with people who treated this Bank Holiday pretty much like any other. I suppose we'll have to come out of lock down as some point but I'll be very wary of where I go for a while and it wouldn't be anywhere that was crowded.

The rose bush is beautiful and the teddies are lovely as always. xx

    1. Crazy isn't it? I just hope that no one was put at unnecessary risk through people's complacency. I'm certainly not going anywhere crowded for a long time!

      Thank you :)

  2. Is the Isle of Wight locked down from the rest of the country?

    1. In theory it should be/is to some extent, holiday makers etc aren't supposed to be coming over, it is just supposed to be essential travel, BUT, I am not convinced... a holiday home near me, has had all sorts of different vehicles parked out front at different times over the last few weeks.

  3. Loved the cattle. They looked so content sitting in the sunshine chewing their cud and enjoying the moment :)

    1. Don't they look great? Something about cattle and their big eyes I think.

  4. Some great photos, particularly the butterflies. Sadly, you will always have people who will not abide by the rules.

  5. On the whole the lockdown seems to be holding here so far as I can tell but although the sun was shining today I doubt the temperature got above 5 ºC with the bitterly strong North wind blowing. I'm envious of all you butterflies but as they need at least 12 ºC to fly I would not be expecting any here.

    1. I think you shut your island off to visitors quite promptly didn't you? We didn't down here, which is a shame I think as it would have been so easy to.

I have loved seeing the butterflies.
