Prompt for today was Squirrel
This is my attempt. He is peeking round a tree.
Photo of the Day:
I've finally got round to sorting through the pile of books from the other day and now have them in the following categories:
Already read - there were five in this pile, all of which I want to keep, so they have been put in the books shelves. I have enjoyed several of the Temple Sutherland books, although this is the only one I have. Ngaio Marsh is another New Zealand author whom I quite enjoy reading.
Those I had started reading - not sure why I have so many I have started, and then not finished, this is most unlike me, so perhaps it was because I found them slow going. I am going to tackle this pile first, in order to sort out perhaps books I wasn't enjoying. I know several of the books were recommended to me by a friend with whom I usually have similar tastes, so hopefully I just stopped reading them because I got distracted for some reason or another.
Non-fiction books - this pile I will read as and when the mood takes me. Some of them I can dip in and out of, others I will read fully. I think I may have read the Romany Muriel and Doris book, I know I have read several of these books, but for some reason don't have them recorded as having read any! Perhaps it was before I started taking note of the books I have read in recent years.
Novels - this pile I am certain I will enjoy most of these. Not sure about the Vince Flynn book, some of these can be a bit 'hit and miss'. A couple are new authors to me as well, so it will be interesting to read those.
Misc: Two I think I will probably be giving up on, shortly after I start them. If I remember rightly the Fern Britton book in this pile is the one I consider 'soap opera' like, and I can't really be bothered with that kind of story, I will have another look at this, but won't waste time over it. I am pretty sure I have read the Dick Francis book years ago, but if so that should be a quick read to refresh my memory. The last two books on the bottom of the pile I am going to have sitting beside my chair in the lounge to dip into when I am sitting with a cup of tea.
I took a decision a long time ago that life was too short to continue reading a book that doesn't grab me unless there is a very compelling reason.
ReplyDeleteYou are quite right and those are my thoughts now as well. I suspect those books that I have 'started' to read probably fall into that category and will be going, but I will dip back into them first to see if that was the reason, I will soon be able to tell. The same thing applies to programmes/films...usually I know within the first few minutes whether something is worth watching or not.
DeleteThrough the Garden Gate and A Commoner's Cottage have titles that appeal to me. Must see if the library has them. Happy reading!!
ReplyDeleteI really love the leaf photo! I'm not a fan of squirrels, but do like your drawing as I think it captures their demonic nature quite well;-)
ReplyDeleteSteve
The squirrel really appealed you have caught his features beautifully. I have been trying for awhile to sketch the shape for a squirrel to applique to a bag, with no success.
