Monday Monday

Gosh I haven't blogged for so many days - not sure where they keep disappearing to!

The highlight of my  morning was seeing a red squirrel running across my driveway from the garden (and I am guessing the bird feeder with nuts), up onto the bins and then the hedge.  Unfortunately I didn't have my camera handy, but it was so exciting to see it.  Nice to know that we have them in our location.

Next highlight was spotting a little toad whilst I was trimming one of the hedges near the pond.  First toad I have seen here as well.

I forgot to take a before photo, but there were branches sticking up all over the rounded bush.

Much neater now.  I also found an old brass fountain underneath it.  I will have to clean it up and see if it works.

I decided to tidy up this area at the front of the decking.

After getting that prickly busy tangled up in my hair, which took some getting out I eventually managed to get rid of it and dug it over as best as I could.  The ground is still very hard as we have had very little rain.

It rained in the morning (15 mm) but the sun came out in the afternoon, so took the opportunity to go for a nice walk.  There were others who had the same idea.

Today's walk:

Red Squirrel Tuesday!

The highlight of my walk today was....

...seeing a red squirrel briefly...

...and just managing to capture it as it runs away

or should I say fly?! 

A pheasant (male - won't use the correct term, as I'll probably end up with a bunch of spam weirdos otherwise)

A Cormorant on the Rocks - sounds like a drink, but also known as the Isle of Wight Parson

A Kestrel 

There were so many butterflies on the the blossom along the coastal path, it was a delight to see.

Back home in the garden...

The peas are looking good.

A lovely Sunday afternoon stroll...and what did I see....

I went to explore this old building today.

I'm guessing it must have been a small cottage at some stage as there is an old fire place inside.

I wonder how old this is.  I tried to see if I could find any information on it, but so far have drawn a blank.

Interesting and intriguing for sure.

I need to put the blanket weed killer in again, but I hate using poisons when there is pond life.

Well that is the weekend almost over once again.  

Planning on spending some time in the garden early tomorrow morning.  I have some peas that are starting to grow well, must photograph them! 

Also hoping my missing Hermes parcel will turn up as it has my jam pots, jars etc in so I can start picking the gooseberries to make gooseberry jam.
