A National Trust property on our door step!

Last night I discovered there is actually a National Trust property just up the road from where we live.  Today we decided to go for a walk round it.  Part of it is fields and the rest woodlands.

A cattle/sheep contraption...I am sure it has a 'proper' technical name.

Pretty little violets

Delicate white flowers

Wonderful bluebells

The flowers were really lovely

Reflections on ponds which seemed to be throughout the woods.

Creepers

Amazing patterns of nature - diamonds.

More reflections

Dandelion clocks.

Fence line.

Dandelions everywhere.

Beautiful tree with horses sheltering beneath it.

The day was surprisingly warm so I am guessing these were all gathered here for some shade.

We walked back home along the road way and admired some fabulous houses.

Rather grand.

Loving the wisteria over the front door.

Isn't it pretty?

We had a really lovely walk discovering nature and woodlands on our doorstep almost.

  1. How cool that you found it. The contraption is a cattle crush, the head slips into the adjustable slats at the front, it keeps their heads from moving, the slots halfway down towards the back are for placing a piece of wood or similar behind their rear ends to stop them moving backwards. It keeps the animal still for when it needs veterinary care, de-horning etc and the handler safe from the animals who can be pretty dangerous when stressed. We have one here.

    1. Ah yes, I thought that is what it was, just couldn't remember the technical name, and yet of course it is very simple!
