I love books, I have always been a voracious reader, stemming from childhood when my parents first got rid of the television to encourage me to read more. I have never looked back and I have never had a television either.
I find it hard not to pick up the odd book that looks interesting...when out and about and again I have added a few more to my always increasing 'to read' pile. I am enjoying trying different authors at the moment and different genres to what I usually read. Not all books stay. Quite often these 'cheap reads' will then be given back to a charity shop. I no longer feel either that I have to read the book to the end, if I am not enjoying it, or can't get into it, out it goes. I keep the books I really enjoy reading and the more obscure authors. One day when we eventually move I AM going to have a room that I turn into a proper library - so that all the books we have stored in boxes, can also be out and easily accessible. I am just hoping that they won't be damaged in the meantime, always a worry when they have to be stored in an outside shed.
Yesterday I picked up a few more books!
This looked interesting, set in Spring 1942 and September 2006 it is a story about a grandmother and her granddaughter, flying, adventure, romance and intrigue by the sounds of it.
I often enjoy stories involving animals...this title is vaguely familiar, hoping it is not one I have already read!
I really enjoy both reading and studying the pictures in Beningfield's books, so when I saw this I couldn't resist, only to realise I actually DO already have this book. I will keep it and take it over to New Zealand next year when I go home to visit my parents. My Dad also enjoys these books.
A bit of inspiration - hopefully!
Some great ideas inside which all look lovely and fresh.
Lastly another one of Ted Allbeury's books arrived from Amazon this afternoon. These books are keepers, although I may possibly take them over to NZ for my Dad to read as he introduced me to this author.
I keep threatening to turn our dining room into a library. We both read and never and I do mean never use the dining room.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good idea...when our younger son moved out that was what I wanted to turn his room into, a library, but we turned it into a dining room instead...but we hardly ever eat in there!
DeleteThe joy of a library, wonderful.
ReplyDeleteNice assortment of books you found.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a library but when we rearranged our house so our second oldest son and his family could have a suite it just worked out that they got the library. I have bookshelves here and there but it's not the same as a whole wall of books!!
