The Garden in August

The pond is looking very green with so much growth round it, that later in the year I will have to cut it right back again.  The buddleia has really taken over.  I can't remember there being any this time last year!

This photo is one is from August last year

There is a new larger pump and fountain to help keep the water clear.

The roses in the garden are looking lovely.

Hopefully over the next couple of weeks I am going to lay some weed suppressant matting and bark on the new rose garden I made at the front of the decking.

The Garden in July

For some reason or another, I haven't really felt like blogging.  I have been plodding away at the garden though and here are a few photos from July.

The front garden just after it has been mowed.

One of my new roses.

A beautiful lily in the pond

A poppy in the deck garden box

Realized there was an insect on it.

Petunias

Poppies

These end up more like weeds, but they do add colour to the garden.

Another one of my new roses.

Apricots in the front garden.

They were delicious, but couldn't have been better...I had to pick the remaining ones early after a squirrel raided them one night!  Must make even better netting protection next year - they obviously came up under the netting cheeky little so and sos.

Another of my new roses.

Raspberries each evening for dessert.

Dalmation beans for dinner

More raspberries

Logan berries.  I have been freezing these to add to crumbles in the winter.

The weather hasn't been the best for gardening, but it has been brilliant for weeds and growth!  Have learnt a bit more this year about the garden and will cover some patches of ground next year to stop the weeds from coming up so quickly.

I had a lovely little crop of carrots coming along, but something dug them up.  Grrr...

The compost bins need moving as although they were in the sun when I built them last year, for the crucial part of the year they are in the shade and so it is taking a V  E R Y   L O N G time for it to turn into compost.  I might invest in one of the 'hot' compost bins.

Wednesday Words & Pictures.

Does anyone know what this weed (?) is growing in my front lawn?  it is the only part of the lawn that is actually green!

It is starting to cover quite a large patch of lawn.

These are the flowers

Blue sky!  The solar panels have been working hard the last few days.

Always beautiful.

The gunnera is looking better now I have trimmed off the dead leaves and given it a good water.  I also spotted at least five goldfish in the pond today, so they are still there!  They weren't visible for long though.

Spider with some prey.

The pears are starting to look good, need to get a bit bigger yet though, they aren't as 'big' as they look in these two photos.

I picked this apple!

The grapes.

I now know what the circular 'clumps' in the orchard are...they are cyclamen...whatdoyacallits.

I think this is brussels?  I need to check my planting notes.

On my walk...

Down at the beach, gorgeous.

I went for a paddle and wished I'd had my swimsuit and a towel as it was so hot down there.

Actually it has been so hot all day, another scorcher for sure.

Just so beautiful.

A bit of excitement to watch on my walk home... a helicopter hovering

a boat speeding a long

Just cruising...

Helicopter getting closer.  I thought it was a police helicopter, but when I uploaded the photos I saw...

...it was a coastguard helicopter.

It seemed to 'chase' after the boat

and then hover over the top of it for a very long time.  But they are both coastguard vessels, so thinking perhaps they were doing some kind of training exercise.

Pretty as a butterfly in the sun.

Dry fields with an 'anvil cloud' (cumulonimbus incus) in the distance...I wonder if thunder is coming? It is forecast to.

Still cruising along...

Some teasels.

Not a particular active day apart from my walk, but better than yesterday.  The heat was just way too much for me yesterday and I ended up with a bad migraine and stomach discomfort.  Fortunately it didn't last too long, the tablets did the trick.
