Watching the Sun Set.

After having a friend stay for a few days I thought that it would be lovely to see the sunset on her last evening on the island so we set off for Brook Bay.  I'll let the pictures say it all...

Catching up with the Garden: May - August

Catching up with posting photos I have taken the last few months.

May:

The front garden.

Beautiful clematis

Glorious roses.

They smelled wonderful.

June:

The first strawberries

Beautiful lilies in the pond.

Gorgeous rose

White wild hollyhock

We were very privileged to have a thrush nesting in the clematis on our deck.

July:

The first of the cherries

Scrumptious apricots.

August:

My vegetable garden has been quite productive.  We have had amazing salad leaves, radish, tomatoes, beans, potatoes etc...

One of the delicious sweetcorn I grew.

Lots of beans...I have frozen a lot of beans.

Cucumbers and peppers, I've given some of these away.

Now it is apple and pear season.
The plums didn't come to anything this year for some reason, perhaps too dry?

Hubby's Birthday and a Walk: The Pearl to Brighstone Beach & Back

Tuesday was my husband's birthday so we went to The Pearl near Brighstone for lunch.

It was a lovely day so we were able to enjoy eating our lunch outside.

The view from where we sat.

After lunch we decided to walk down to the beach so we could walk to Brighstone Beach.

At the beginning of the walk, after descending the steps.

The beach was empty, so we were able to let Stanley off.

How wonderful to have this beautiful beach all to ourselves"

He enjoyed the freedom, although doesn't generally go far from us.

Hurry up he seems to be saying...

Such a handsome dog.

The cliffs had eroded quite a bit.

Some strange concrete object in the sea...not sure if it had fallen down the cliff, having been part of a structure at some stage in the past.

Looking out to sea.

Poor dead crab.

We walked back to The Pearl along the top of the cliff, coastal path.

More of the cliff falling away.

A very lovely afternoon.
